Celebrate Nowruz in Iran

Nowruz, the Islamic New Year, starts on the new moon of spring, marking the beginning of Maspur, the Iranian lunar calendar, and marks the beginning of Ramadan, the sacred Islamic holy month. It is celebrated extensively around the world by different ethnic groups and often falls on or near march 21 of the Islamic calendar. The date of Nowruz celebrations vary across the world, with some celebrating it on the day before Ashura, and others on the last Sunday of the Islamic month of Ramadan. In Islamic countries like Iran, Nowruz is one of the most important religious festivals and is closely associated with the lunar calendar. It is regarded as a time for giving thanks and being grateful to the powers that be. The festival marks the start of planting trees, and is celebrated with all sorts of feasting and gathering, and is also a time for sharing and camaraderie.

The festival is mostly celebrated in Iran, but parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and other Muslim countries commemorate it as well. The celebration of Nowruz marks the beginning of paradise, when Islam’s messenger Mohammed delivered his sermon from the tree of Knowledge. The prophet’s sermon included the events of creation and the universal message of Islam.

Nowruz celebrates the triumph of good over evil and reminds us that we should trust in Allah. Muslims in general believe that evil spirits come out at the end of the year to make mischief. To banish them permanently from our lives and to strengthen our faith, we should make sure that we keep away from all that evil. During Nowruz, loud noises and dancing are prohibited.

Each region of Iran has its own tradition and culture associated with Nowruz. For example, for Shiraz and Kerman people, Nowruz is a time to celebrate their heritage. Both of these regions, which are located on the foothills of mountain peaks, are famous for their art and architecture. When we are in Iran, we can see many places of tourist interest and the culture of these regions is very colourful and attractive.

On this day, it is usual for a woman to give thanks to the men in her home for the bread and butter they have provided. The best part of Nowruz festival is when the women dance the night away. They wear colorful clothes, silk saris, headdresses, and long flowing silk scarves. It’s very romantic and women enjoy being treated like this during Nowruz.

Many Iranian women have traditions and customs associated with Nowruz. For example, it’s a celebration in honour of their marriage, as well as a period of thankfulness for having been given a house, a new name, and clothes to wear throughout their life. For women, this is a time to get together with family and friends and take part in dances, storytelling, and music. Some people say that celebrating Nowruz in Iran is similar to celebrating Christmas. However, this is strictly a cultural issue and you are free to celebrate or not celebrate Nowruz according to your own beliefs and traditions.
